Cooking Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350. Wash and dry the chicken with paper towels. Remove the giblets package from the cavity. Spread the butter, [optional] herbs, salt, and pepper over the breast, legs and wings. Place chicken on a back in deep, roasting pan. Bake for 30 minutes per pound or until the juices run clear. Baste frequently, add water if necessary. Turn bird occasionally to brown evenly.
